Jane16 is free noncomercial project, trying to aplly knowledge of text analsys, semantic strucutres, data mining and other artificial intelligence advancements to the real world practice.

Explanation of the name Jane16.

J. - java. Java is great language combining relative simplicity with power to create robust applications, also very much client - server focused and secure.

A - associative. Associations are the very ( and I mean very!) core of this system. Associations among entities, their constant update and re-association.

N -nervous. The database this system is using resemble very much nervous structure. Many and many entities are interconnected one another, but in the end with deep meaning. Also word nervous tries to avoid the misunderstanding with word neural (aka neural nets). Jane16 is NOT based on neural nets.

E -engine. The project purpose is to create black box, which gets data in and spits out the results. That is the engine.

16 The original design of he database for jane16 has 16 bytes allocated for single unit , that is for smallest single meaningful entity inside the system. Now the unit is dynamic, but 16 bytes stays there as very basic information each unit must have.
