What is Jane16

Jane16 - Java Associative Nervous Engine is online content text analyser, which include open source sentiment analysis program available for free download. Jane16 engine implements number of statistical models to extract and analyse the given text. In one single system it is capable to extract - online - the relevant information of the text like subject, summary and in certain cases even sentiment of the text.
Jane16 is pure statistical engine, providing basic (and sometimes not so basic) statistical analysis on the given data.

Features and Services

- Jane16 provides its services online as free publicly available API

Subject - extraction of contextually relevant keywords from the text
Scope - analysis of higher perspective meaning of the text.
Summary - can pick up (up to) three short phrases most relevant to the given text.
Sentiment - from opinionated text would extract its sentiment, positive or negative.

- Big stress is given to the performance of the engine and it's capability to analyse the typical text (around 500Kb in size) in very few seconds.

- All services provide output in straightforward XML structures, to be easily parsed and used.

- Full copy of the sentiment engine, is also provided as open source code (fully functional) to be downloaded from sourceforge.net.

- Accuracy of the sentiment engine - is around 80-95% depending of the types of the content analysed.

Full sentiment database release as open source	November 2008
Due to a huge demand I have decided to release full version of sentiment database as open source, also some significant changes in loading the database, I have changed file format from XML to CSV which decrease the file size (and performance alike) a lot. So now there is available full copy of this online sentiment engine for local download from sourceforge.net

RSS feed with related search engine results	September/October 2008
I have created RSS feed enhanced with related search engine results. The page is available on Yahoo pipes or here. The idea is quite simple. Read RSS feed, analyse the individual article content, get related search engine results ( using Yahoo BOSS) and put everything together. I also added quite a few new enhancement in database engine, mostly performance based.

New site released - version 2.0	August 2008
New version of www.jane16.com site and engine is released. Many enhancement on the site, plus it's been added new part of engine, called sentiment analysis capable to extract from opinionated text positive or negative mood.

Sentiment database as open source on sourceforge.net	August 2008
On the www.sourceforge.net there is created new project called jane16sentiment, which open source version of this system , with little smaller database in place. Available for download here.

-Try to put longer text than just 3 or 4 words to trigger the real sentiment analysis, ideal is a movie or a book review. Also this is not a financial sentiment analysis but human sentiment analysis (I hate the book. It's the worst one I have read. I love the book. It's the best one I have read. etc.)
